Hello to all you nature lovers out there and faithful blog-readers :)

The time has come to give you a little review on what the ranger and the gypsie have seen and experienced since half may and what you guys can expect whenever you come out here , ( in my own modest opinion) :)

Waterton Lakes NP, Alberta : The gem of the south! Located at the US border on top of Glacier NP USA. A perfect start to explore the Rocky Mountains on canadian side. Astonishing views, emerald blue lakes with tons of driftwood, trails to hike until your soles of your walking boots are warn out :) also hiking for the more adventures amongst us... The ranger and me have climbed up our first waterfall, fantastic! a bit scary, especially on loose gravel and rocks, but we've made it :) we saw a mountain that we knew we couldn't resist as soon as we layed our eyes on it ! and good we didn't because it was a fantastic climbe, very diverse and we've got greeted by some mountain sheep along the way and the ranger has found the most perfect antlers ever! No worries, we didn't take them...

Banff NP, Alberta ; Banff has everything what all the nature places want, the enormous mountain peaks, the picture perfect around every corner, the emerald lakes,... it is a grant park in size but nothing is allowed! no parking here, this area is closed of, day-time use only,no overnight stay... and it goes on and on. My personal opinion is that Banff got to big for its own shirt. the park rangers behave like cops with wearing fire arms and bullet proof vests!Too much tourism spoils beauty and peace.

Kootenay NP, Britisch Colombia ; Arrived late in the evening on the 31st of may and waking up the next morning to a few centimeters of snow ! What a beauty! an unpretencies and a full of potential NP. For now the NP is almost completely regenerating after it lost 70% its forrest in a huge fire in 2003. Wonderful to see all the new trees popping up which gives a very vibrant green to it all, you wait and see within 10 years and you gonna find yourself a beauty of a NP. If you would visit now, don't forget to go to marble canyon and take a hike along one of its strong flowing rivers.we were amazed on one of our trailwalks to see how much damage an avalanche actually makes, we were blown away by it...

Yoho NP, Britisch Colombia ; Yoho is not one of the biggest but for sure one of the most intriging. We got so treated here on wildlife viewing and beautiful forrests and pastel blue lakes, we've seen grizzly and black bear, caribou, elk,... you name it, Yoho got it! we absolutaly love it. we've had amazing views to wake up to and did a lot of hiking. It is also the place to see the spiral tunnel for the trains. If the train is long enough you can see it coming out of the tunnel below whilst still going in the tunnel above, pretty amazing, well thought through engeneering.
Jasper NP, Alberta ; fantastic ! It has the icefield parkway or the highway 93 going straight through it, the most spectacular scenic road in the entire Rocky Mountains. You get awed at every curve...home to the Colombia Icefields. the glaciers you can walk on and the fantastic lakes such as emerald lake.we walked around maligne lake, wonderful to see the play of the colours in the water. suggestion; walk the five lake trail, very peaceful. The town of Jasper, located in the north part of the park, is our favourite NP-town. very relaxed and friendly people.
